Clarity

From the book Inward
by Yung Pueblo

Clarity is a series of nine paintings created in response to a single passage from Yung Pueblo’s book Inward:

“sometimes deeper mental clarity
is preceded by great internal storms”

For each painting, I returned to the same words and painted while reflecting on what they meant to me. Rather than illustrating the passage literally, the series became an exercise in repetition and observation—nine different responses to the same idea.

Created in 2020, the works move between abstraction, flowers, and loosely rendered figures. Looking back, Clarity became an early experiment in allowing one idea to hold an entire body of work, something that would become increasingly important in my practice.
