Ka Rising

2025

Acrylic Paint and Markers on Stretched Canvas

The Egyptian Book of the Dead is an ancient guide to the afterlife — a collection of spells, hymns, and illustrations meant to help the soul navigate the unseen world and reunite with divine light. It was not a single book, but a living tradition, rewritten and personalized for each person who sought safe passage through death into rebirth. Within its pages, gods and goddesses reveal the mysteries of balance, truth, and transformation — themes that continue to echo across time, culture, and spirit.

Ka Rising began almost exactly a year ago, when fashion designer Catira Blasini woke from a vivid dream repeating a single phrase: “Ka, Egypt.” She shared it with artist Christina Lewis Vizcarrondo, and from that moment, the two began shaping a shared vision — blending Blasini’s world of fashion with Vizcarrondo’s world of painting. The result is a collaborative exhibition exploring divine feminine energy through color, texture, and story — weaving the ancient mysticism of Egypt into the vibrant soul of the Caribbean.

Acrylic Paintings

Ka Rising is a 12-piece painting series created with acrylic on stretched canvas, inspired by goddess archetypes, ancient Egyptian symbolism, and the rebirth of personal power. Each work weaves spiritual energy, feminine strength, and cosmic storytelling into lush, tropical surrealism.

Digital Collage

Alongside the paintings, the series also includes five digital collages that began as composition studies. These collages were created from photographs taken during the Ka Rising photoshoots. They served as the visual foundation for the paintings — exploring gesture, form, and divine symbolism. However, the collages became so striking and dynamic on their own that they evolved into finished works, printed and included as part of the complete series.
