Neith is one of Egypt’s most ancient goddesses, embodying both creation and protection. She is a primordial weaver — the one who wove the world into being — and a warrior, guardian of kings and souls alike. Her dual nature joins life and death, creation and destruction, reminding us that both are necessary forces in the cosmic order. In the Book of the Dead, Neith appears among the four protective goddesses — along with Isis, Nephthys, and Serket — who guard the canopic jars containing the organs of the deceased. Her presence ensures the soul’s safe passage through the afterlife and protection from harm. Often depicted wearing the Red Crown of Lower Egypt and bearing crossed arrows and a shield, Neith represents divine strength and the weaving of destiny. As a creator goddess, she is said to have spoken the first words that brought the world into existence — a reminder that every act of creation, whether through art or life, carries the same sacred power.
