Amoralis mutua

Native to areas deep within El Yunque, Amoralis mutua, commonly referred to as the Love Plant, was first named for the small heart-shaped forms hidden within its inner petals. Only later did researchers begin documenting the flower’s unusual blooming behavior, observing that the plant appeared to remain dormant during one-sided affection and bloom exclusively in the presence of mutual romantic attraction. While scientists have been unable to explain the phenomenon, many believe the flower somehow recognizes reciprocal love before the people involved do.
